Revela Africa

Backend & Systems Engineer

I own the core backend infrastructure for an enterprise vehicle liquidation platform in Lagos. Vehicle inspections produce large data payloads and compute-heavy valuation jobs, so I decoupled them from the client request loop using NestJS, BullMQ, and Redis. Built the API layer using code-first GraphQL schemas with role-based access control across inspectors, validators, and executive pricing admins.

100%
Async valuation pipeline reliability

Role Overview

Revela Africa powers vehicle liquidation and valuation across enterprise fleets in West Africa. I lead backend architecture, translating comprehensive physical inspection reports into pricing decisions through automated scoring pipelines.

Architecture & Implementation

Built on NestJS and TypeScript with a code-first GraphQL API. Because computer vision appraisal jobs have unpredictable durations, client mutations enqueue tasks into BullMQ and return immediately. Redis coordinates the distributed worker queues, and PostgreSQL persists inspection logs alongside valuation audit trails.

Frontend & Mobile Integration

Partnered with client engineers to establish strictly typed GraphQL schemas, eliminating overfetching and feeding real-time auction state changes over GraphQL subscriptions.

Key Outcomes

  • ▪Decoupled computer vision valuation jobs into BullMQ background workers, keeping API mutation latency under 80ms.
  • ▪Enforced three-tier RBAC for inspection workflows: Inspector → Validator → Admin Final Offer.
  • ▪Structured PostgreSQL indexes around valuation audit trails and vehicle logs to eliminate slow scans under concurrent usage.
